Black and Gold SUMAK Indigenous Wallka

"Wallka" which means necklace in Kichwa is piece of jewelry that usually brings along a story as it is passed down from generation to generation of women.  Because in some indigenous families, generations not only pass on jewelry, but trauma, the women of SUMAK have "re-designed" the traditional wallka to symbolize breaking the circles of generational violence.  

This beautiful piece also symbolizes power, elegance, mystery and honors ancestors who were enslaved.
